Bio
Pomodoro is the project of Phoenix-based songwriter/guitarist Alex Zahn, who describes his sound as “tin-can music”—a blend of raw, DIY indie rock with an emphasis on the acoustic guitar’s role in the genre. Drawing inspiration from artists like Pearl Jam and Mac DeMarco, Pomodoro crafts songs that feel both intimate and expansive; lo-fi yet deeply intentional.
Growing up in a car-centric city like Phoenix, music became the soundtrack to dozens of hours spent on the highway. By middle school, Alex was teaching himself guitar by ear, spending weeks in his room recreating his favorite songs. A love for record collecting was sparked after winning a cheap record player from Dave & Buster’s, leading to countless hours digging through crates at local record stores.
Before launching Pomodoro, Alex was part of the band Slug Bug, which made waves in the Phoenix music scene. They played at venues like The Rebel Lounge, Crescent Ballroom, and headlined their sold-out EP release show at Valley Bar. The band was featured in Phoenix New Times, and performed at M3F Festival (2023).
Now, Pomodoro is taking shape as Zahn records his debut album. When he’s not writing or recording, you’ll find him bartending at a local music venue, staying immersed in the energy of live shows.
